|  Pope Shenouda III Jonah Many persons desired death for sacred spiritual reasons, but Jonah desired death for paltry (worldly) reasons springing from grumbling and lack of long-suffering.  Saint Paul did not err when he said:  "..having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better" (Phil. 1:23).  Simeon the elder did not err when he said: "Lord, now You are letting  Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word, for my eyes have seen  Your salvation" (Luke 2:29 & 30).  |
